Halloween (1978)
Saturday Nov 19, 2022
Saturday Nov 19, 2022
Yes, we know, technically spooky season is over (except in our hearts, where it’s all year long), but this is Matt's first pick to make it into the show, so we cut him some slack.
Clearly falling for the master director John Carpenter’s style in "They Live," Matt takes us back to 1978 and to arguably the birth of the modern-day slasher film with his SpOoOkY revenge pick, "Halloween".
In a 3CG-first, none of the krewe had even seen this cult classic before. However, the premise and genre sparked a fascinating internal "will he or won't he" war, where none of us could decide if Terry would even watch, let alone like, the film.
Never fear though Terry fans, once the C-4 (pls sponsor us) kicked in he was fully engaged and running us off the rails with his usual quips, mildly distasteful stories, and wry observations. Other 3CG-firsts feature Matt actually saying more than three words, and Hannah not reading a doctoral thesis (although she does blow Garrett's hamsters off the wheel when explaining the fraught symbolism and patriarchal implications of the film).
So 3CG-ers, did Terry actually watch the film? Was Matt’s first movie panned, forever scarring him, and discouraging any future picks? What does Garrett think about Michael Myers driving a car? And how does our resident California girl reference a Texas Toothpick? You'll have to listen to find out.

They Live
Saturday Oct 29, 2022
Saturday Oct 29, 2022
While we would like this episode to be like Meg Foster’s piercing blue eyes and cut straight to the point, it’s more like that 6-minute fight scene between ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper and America’s favorite President, Keith David. We may only discuss the actual movie “They Live” (1988) for about 6 minutes of this 90+ minute podcast, but like the film, the tangents we stray off onto are a teaser for what’s to come.
Much like we masquerade as an actual movie podcast, “They Live” is a biting, satirical look at capitalism and greed masquerading as a B-Movie horror flick. Our krewe touches (and we really mean touches as the topic is only discussed for about 36 seconds) on the fact that the movie still carries a great deal of relevance for today’s world.
Perhaps it’s the krewe’s overall thoughts on the slow pacing of the film that makes this episode anything but slow-paced, but as we ramble our way through this ep we see the familiar hallmarks of a 3CG production: Terry tries to goad Hannah into a reaction with his horribly outdated jokes and language, Matthew extols the virtues of color film, Hannah reads us another dissertation, and Garrett’s brain hamsters pass out from exhaustion. So, business as usual.
Will Terry ever learn we don’t buy his heel act? Will Matthew be able to shake his turn as the baby face (or even speak more than two sentences)? Does Garrett consider the ultimate remake one that stars the people’s elbow? Is Hannah the real ‘Rowdy’ one of the krewe? Did we miss out on making several wrestling-themed puns during the recording? You’ll have to listen to find out!

Freaks (1932)
Saturday Oct 15, 2022
Saturday Oct 15, 2022
What happens when Garret doesn’t watch the time and the ADD train leaves the track and any semblance of structure behind? You get a tangentially related take on the 1932 Horror classic, Freaks, that’s longer than the movie itself.
Since MGM freaked out, pun intended, over Browning’s original 90-minute cut, the final available film is a short but not-so-sweet, must-watch that clocks in at just over an hour. However, the lasting reverberations created by the intended social commentaries can be felt even today in the subsequent generations of cult classics, for better or worse.
And how does the krewe feel about it? Well, the boys struggled to update their lexicon with this one, never quite knowing how to reference some of the events or characters of the movie respectfully. Luckily, they had some 9-month pregnant pauses and sharp side-eyes to tell them where the line was. All in all, there were some definite strong feelings and zany takes on the movie, sprinkled liberally with ADD shenanigans and naked roommate stories for good measure.
And what outdated term does Terry need the Woke PoliceTM to help update? Does he give us a curveball to end all curveballs about where his heart really is? Does Matthew (or is it Mateo Giuseppe?) ever stick up for himself? We hope not, that’s never ended well for the characters in his beloved mob dramas (RIP Spider). Either way, you’ll need to listen to find out!

Rocky Horror Picture Show
Sunday Sep 25, 2022
Sunday Sep 25, 2022
Well, we’re hopping back in time, or rather warping, with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Another cult classic delight from the same glorious mind that brought you, Priscilla, Terry J. Nelson.
The krewe discusses the myriad pitfalls of gender and sexuality, Matthew tries to keep up his good Catholic boy facade, Terry fusses over Jasper, Hannah enlightens the krewe about the origins of the Rainbow Flag, and Garrett just tries to keep the show moving.
There may be some problems with the delivery, but there’s a little something for everyone to love in this 1975 banger. The krewe even kicks around the idea of a Priscilla-RHPS double feature with dress-up. And while there was a bit of a power struggle over who gets to bring Dr. Frank-N-Furter back to life (what self-respecting actor wouldn’t want to try their hand at the inimitable Tim Curry?), there’s nothing but glam and love for this film, despite Matthew’s protestations.
Damnit, Janet. Just get into it already.

Casablanca

Sunday Sep 25, 2022
Yet another Golden Age Hollywood classic but this time from the romantic mind of Terry J. Nelson. Tune in as the boys bemoan the woes of love and being the better person while Hannah tries to bring the movie into a modern context with discussion points and woke buzzwords galore.
The krewe broaches the messy topic of toxic masculinity and the ADD train is in full force going a little off the rails but doing their best to make sure they hit all the stations. Terry breaks out his best Humphrey Bogart impression, Matt throws in his two cents about the ending, Garrett muses on his own growth, and Hannah goes on a tangent about the historical context of Sam, the piano player.
While there may have been a few heavy-handed archetypes and a semi-controversial ending, this star-studded cast and their subtle performances only age better as time goes by (racism and sexism excluded, of course).
The krewe may not have had any gin on hand, but the toasts and roasts of this top 100 movie will have you saying, “here’s looking at you, kid.”

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Saturday Aug 27, 2022
Saturday Aug 27, 2022
This week’s pick is another Golden Age Hollywood classic from our own golden-haired, Hollywood girl herself. Tune in as Hannah tests the theory of if Gentlemen [really do] Prefer Blondes or if it’s all just ticklish business any way you look at it.
While the boys may have been enamored with the bombshell duo of Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe, Hannah definitely had some tricks up her sleeve with some of those musical numbers. Will the boys finally learn to do pre-show research? So far only our resident historian, Garrett, has taken up that mantle as he delves into the basis for the movie: the 1949 stage production by the same name.
And while there may have been some initial grumblings, this Howard Hawk’s classic never fails to disappoint with some iconic numbers and bewitching performances by just two [legendary] girls from Little Rock.
No one will ever mistake our krewe for being gentlemen, but we know at least a couple who may indeed prefer blondes.

Join us this week as we discuss the 1954 Horror/Sci-Fi classic Them! If you are following along at home make sure you include 1954 and the ! in Them! lest you end up researching Van Morrison or the Amazon series. No, this good old slice of Americana stars James Whitmore (The Shawshank Redemption), James Arness, (Gunsmoke), and Joan Weldon.
Another one of Hannah's picks, which we swear are totally random, this episode starts out talking about Louis CK and fellatio and it's pretty much all downhill from there. Garrett, Hannah, and Terry drank so much C4 during the course of this episode that Matthew's heart exploded from residual caffeine.
Show notes: This episode contains mentions of the following; Violence, PTSD, Firearms, Incest, Catcalling, Marijuana, and Drug Use.

Join us for another episode where we discuss the 1974 Martin Scorsese film "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" starring Kris Kristofferson and Ellen Burstyn. If this episode seems a little heavy on Hannah and Garrett's side it's probably because Terry forgot how to use a microphone and Matthew forgot he had one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Enjoy this episode and stay tuned next month for two brand new movies that are revealed at the end of this episode. Spoiler alert: We are pretty sure Hannah rigged this one as our movies for next month go back... like way back... Who knew a Millenial would have such an old soul?
Show notes: This episode contains several discussions about domestic violence, and alcoholism, and has a brief mention of suicide.

Saturday Jul 09, 2022
We are back, baby! We are bringing you an all-new Season of Three Cissies and A Girl where we ruin your favorite classic movies. Youngblood is stepping in for Rob since his schedule training America’s future MMA badasses makes it difficult for him to join us and Terry is still... Terry.
Join us this week for the pre-code 1934 classic The Thin Man where we discuss getting into Myrna Loy’s drawers. Besides Myrna Loy, the W. S. Van Dyke directed mystery also stars William Powell and the scene-stealing wire-haired fox terrier Skippy as Asta. Based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Dashiell Hammett, Powel, plays Nick, a retired private detective, with Loy as his wife, Nora Charles, a wealthy heiress. Together, the couple enjoys copious drinking, flirtatious banter, and solves a murder or two.
*Show Notes: This episode discusses domestic violence, which may be uncomfortable for some listeners.

Rob has a saying, "Ain't no kink-shaming here at 3CG" which leads us to Hannah's pick for Pride Month, Kinky Boots. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Joel Edgerton this 2005 comedy about a UK shoemaker that gets into the business of making boots for Drag Queens can't be too problematic right? We didn't censor Terry on this one and Garrett and his shoe fetish find his voice.
It's possible our next episode might be a little late due to some scheduling issues with the cast but stay tuned after this one as we finish off Pride Month with our next two picks.
